Dr. Leiker was born in Garland, Texas, and moved to Wichita, KS during childhood. She attended grade school at St. Francis of Assisi, and is a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School.
Dr. Leiker pursued further education at the University of Kansas, where she majored in piano performance and chemistry. Her first job out of college was working as a chemist for Merck-Sharpe-Dome Laboratories in Lawrence, KS. She quickly learned that although she loved science, a laboratory setting lacked one thing: people. In the year before attending medical school, Dr. Leiker worked as a para-professional for a middle school music teacher where she was the staff accompanist and assisted in teaching music class. She also finished a third bachelor’s degree in biochemistry this year, as well. Both of these jobs helped shape her final decision to attend medical school at the University of Kansas.
In1999, Dr. Leiker met her husband, Mark two weeks after graduating from medical school. She began a residency in pediatrics, with plans to pursue a fellowship in neonatology. Through Mark, also a family physician, she was able to see what family medicine truly had to offer, and changed residency programs. Mark and Angela married in 2000, and had their first child in 2001. They now have five children, three boys and two girls. She joined Primary Care Associates in 2002.
Community involvement includes playing organ and piano at her home parish, Resurrection Catholic Church. She served on the Wichita Catholic Diocese board for the Safe Environment and Protection of children from 2007 to 2015. She served a board position from 2018-2021 at the Starkey Corporation for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.
Dr. Leiker’s passions include running, hot yoga, scuba diving with her husband and kids, and the occasional ski trip when her husband lets her go, haha. She considers the opportunity to walk alongside a patient’s journey in life as the best part of family medicine.
Dr. Leiker, a Wichita, KS native, attended Bishop Carroll High School and Wichita State University.
Originally a Graphic Design major, he discovered his passion for medicine during his junior year.
He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1995 and completed his residency at St. Francis Family Practice in 1998, after which he joined Primary Care Associates.
Dr. Leiker’s work experience includes serving at the Philmont Scout Ranch Health Lodge from 2016 to 2019, he acted as medical advisor for the Union Rescue Mission, and since 2020, he has been the medical advisor for Wichita State University's Molecular Diagnostics Lab, which initiated COVID-19 community testing.
He has also been the medical director of Home Health and Hospice of Kansas since its founding in 2001.
Additionally, he serves as a board member of the Medical Society of Sedgwick County.
His awards include the 1996 KU Wichita Resident Teaching Award. In 2023, he received the Exemplary Teaching Awards from both the Kansas Academy and the American Academy of Family Physicians in the volunteer category. He was also named Kansas Home Care and Hospice Physician of the Year.
Dr. Leiker is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Along his path to medical school, Dr. Leiker directed two choirs and sang with the KU Mass Choir, a gospel group in Kansas City.
He is a cantor at Resurrection Catholic Church, where his wife Angela plays the organ.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking, performing magic, scuba diving with his five children, and staying actively involved in his medical practice.

I grew up in Wichita, KS, and feel very blessed to be able to practice in my home town where I am close to my family and friends. Growing up, I love being around people and science was always fascinating to me so it was very natural for me to lean towards healthcare. I started my professional career as a Medical Technologist and Clinical Laboratory Scientist. After ten years of performing labs and managing a laboratory, I decided to go back to school to become a Physician Assistant. This transition allowed me to be in direct patient care, to help treat, manage, and more importantly build relationships with patients. It is a true honor and privilege for me to take care of patients and what is most important to them, their families. I look forward to being part of your healthcare team!
